Ground Census Enumeration: MOIP Union Minister meet officials in Monywa

Chairman of the Central Committee on Supervising Ground Census Enumeration, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing along with the Sagaing Region Chief Minister met with regional governmental officials and Ground Census Enumeration committee members at the hall of regional office in Monywa Township on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Union Minister said that 2,805 teams conducted ground census enumeration process in Sagaing regions and a total of 3.7 millions of household list were collected. It is found that there are still more than 1 million households that cannot be collected. In some areas, it is not possible to carry out the process due to the security situation.

The Union Minister instructed the need to complete the enumeration process as much as possible.   He added that the Ministry has been carrying out the Pan Khin project across the country for every citizen who are eligible to vote for election, to have the identity card.

Myanmar will be conducted the Nationwide Population and Housing Census in October 2014, the trial census collection was conducted at the regions and states in last October. In Sagaing Region, 100 percent success have been achieved in 10 pick plots in Monywa.

The Union Minister stressed that all these processes are important and essential for the country, and he urged all local authorities and social organizations to cooperate for successful completion of the project in a timely manner.

Next, Regional Chief Minister U MyatKyaw and attendees reported on the working activities and future plans of census collections, and the Union Minister fulfilled the requirements submitted by the attendees. Then, the Union Minister met with staffs from the township supervisory offices of region and districts, gave instructions for preparations of 2024 census collection, and provided the cash assistants.
