Greenland’s mineral resources minister’s perspective on Greenland issue

Greenland’s mineral resources minister said the Danish autonomous territory wants to advance relations with the United States peacefully through dialogue. Minister Naaja Nathanielsen spoke to reporters during a visit to London on Tuesday. She was asked about the repeated remarks President Donald Trump has made indicating that he wants the US to take control of Greenland.

Nathanielsen said the people of Greenland are concerned about the US administration’s desire to annex or buy the territory, adding that “they are an American ally, but they do not see themselves as becoming Americans.”
