A monsoon tree planting ceremony was held for the second time this season on Sunday at the Taunggyi Bird Sanctuary.
The event aims to promote environmental conservation, prevent natural disasters, and support sustainable forestry. Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung emphasized the importance of making Taunggyi a green and clean capital city by expanding urban forests, parks, and landscaping.
A total of 1,144 saplings including teak, cherry, and padauk, were planted using contour trenching and soil replacement methods. So far this year, more than 2.3 million trees have been planted across Shan State out of the planned 2.4 million. The Chief Minister and officials also inspected the reforestation area and heard reports on soil preparation, trenching, and maintenance operations.
