Greek Prime Minister said the destruction of Evia island, that has been engulfed in flames for a week, "blackens everyone's hearts" as he addressed the nation on Monday.  A massive fire on the country's second-largest island has been burning for the seventh-straight day and has ravaged pristine forests, destroyed homes and businesses and sent thousands fleeing. The Greek premier apologised for "any weaknesses" shown in addressing the emergency and pledged compensation for all affected, and a huge reforestation and regeneration effort. The fire, which began Aug. 3, is the most severe of hundreds in the past week across Greece.
