





The sports competition for education degree colleges under the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education commenced at WunnaTheikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
The opening ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Education, Health, and Human Resource Development Committee, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister, Vice Senior General Soe Win.
In his speech, Vice Senior General Soe Win emphasized the importance of nurturing versatile teachers excelling in both academics and sports, highlighting the potential for outstanding athletes to bring prestige to the nation through university and college-level sports competitions.
He urged participants to constantly train and develop the six fundamental points of sports, including durability, strength, swiftness, skill, stamina, and cooperation. Following the formal opening, the commemorative flag was hoisted, and student athletes recited sports oaths.
The Vice Senior General and attendees enjoyed performances such as physical fitness dance, Myanmar martial art, shawl dance, caneball, and aerobics presented by students from Meikhitla, Hlegu, and Taungoo Education Degree Colleges.
The Inter-Education Degree College Sports Competition for the 2023-2024 academic year is scheduled to take place from 22nd to 26th December at WunnaTheikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw, with the participation of 800 students from various education degree colleges.
