




According to the instructions of Petroleum Products Regulatory Department under the Ministry of Energy, the global positioning system (GPS) must be installed for the safety and proper management of the vehicles transporting fuel. It has been announced to install GPS devices in order to find out the peculiarities of accidents in timely manner when distributing fuel by vehicles and oil boxer trucks.
Min Min Zaw, Director, Petroleum Products Regulatory Department said "In carrying out transportation of fuel from one place to another with fuel vehicles and oil tanker trucks, it is necessary to install global positioning system (GPS) in oil tanker trucks, vehicles and tanker ships to conduct the necessary supervisory measures and verification in timely manner by the relevant departmental organizations including our department. Our department and Myanmar Petroleum Trade Association (MPTA) are underway to carry out the technical aspects to use GPS in one platform as soon as we have received the GPS-related information requested by the department. "
After completion of the installation of the GPS system in fuel import and distribution companies, fuel transportation companies and the oil tankers owned by other private entrepreneurs, it is necessary to complete the installation status on the specified form and submit it to the department by the deadline of 28th July. Myanmar Petroleum Trade Association (MPTA) has been notified to continue to provide information concerning with the situation of GPS installation and to connect with the GPS installation company and install it on deadline by 5th August for the companies which have not completed to install GPS system.
The fuel transportation service will not be allowed to continue if it is found that there is no business license, supervisory certificate and GPS installation in oil tankers and fuel transportation vehicles.
