Government Rolls Out Weather Modification Operations

The Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency reported that between July 15 and August 5, the agency has carried out 114 weather modification operations to support ongoing construction works in Nusantara.

 The weather modification operations have been carried out around Makassar Strait, Kutai Kartanegara Regency and north Penajam Paser Regency, using 111 tons of salt and 8 tons of calcium oxide. According to the agency head, the operations have successfully reduced rains up to 9 percent and 3 percent of light rains and they must continue the operations until August 10.
