At this year's U.N. climate meeting, Former US Vice President Al Gore told that emissions from oil and gas sources are likely three times higher than reported.
Al Gore, former US Vice President said "The top 14 individual sources of emission in the world are all oil and gas fields. The Permian Basin, as Gavin just mentioned, is number one in the world and we found last year shockingly, that oil and gas production emissions were about double what they had reported to the United Nations with new data on the flaring and the methane leaks, we now estimate that the actual emissions are likely three times higher than what they have reported.
During a presentation of Climate Trace, Gore stressed a project that measures sources of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide using satellite imagery, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and collective data science. Gore added that Climate Trace could help tackle emissions by pinpointing their sources.
