Good Deeds: 1 millionth pilgrim to ‘Maravijaya’ Buddha Image

The World’s Highest Sitting ‘Maravijaya’ Buddha Image has been crowded with pilgrims from across the country since August 8.

The number of pilgrims reached over 1 million on Tuesday and the 1 millionth pilgrim is U Kyaw Wunna from Insein Township of Yangon Region.

Under the guidance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, a member of the pagoda board of trustees honoured the 1 millionth pilgrim U Kyaw Wunna.

Maravijaya Buddha image is the World’s Highest Sitting Marble Buddha image and it was built with the aims; to show the flourishing of Theravada Buddhism in Myanmar, to have Myanmar as a focal point of Theravada Buddhism, to ensure prosperity of the State and to contribute to peace and stability of the world.

It’s built with the tradition of Buddhist culture, Myanmar arts and crafts. Pilgrims to the ‘Maravijaya’ Buddha Image also explore the Buddha Park which includes 24 repository chambers, Agga Dipadi Sasana Beikman, Stone Inscription Cetis, Mucalinda Lake, Thudamma public rest houses, Nagayon Pagoda and water fountain square and Maravijaya monastery.
