Good Aquaculture Practice: Efforts for development of maring industry

A work coordination meeting on evaluating the improvement of research works for boosting production of fisheries products took place at Myeik Township in Thaninthayi Region on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi, Deputy Directors General, and many other concerned officials. In the opening speech, the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation said plans are underway to expand related research works for development of farming and producing fish, shrimp and other marine products locally, in order to have sufficiency for local consumption and export.

He urged all the researchers to get quality species in producing new items and to implement the marine research work. Then, the attendees clarified on the research processes of fish and upgrading processes of livestock breeding camp (KyunSu) and Good Aquaculture Practice Model Farm with regional fisheries research fund during 2022-2023.

Then, the Deputy Minister and Thaninthayi region economic affairs Minister attended the handover ceremony of PCR machine to the Department of Fisheries (Thaninthayi) by the Fishery Federation at Pahtet village in Kyunsu township.

Afterwards, they visited Myeik University and observed the production process of oysters and scallops and systematic farming at Department of Aquatic Science and the Rector and officials clarified detail of the work processes.
