Global Sustainable Transport Forum: Myanmar delegation attended the forum

Myanmar delegation led by Member of State Administration Council Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo attended the Global Sustainable Transport Forum held from 25th to 26th September in Beijing of the People’s Republic of China, arrived back at Yangon in the evening on 27th September and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander of Yangon Command, officials concerned from Chinese Embassy and the officials from the Ministry welcome at Yangon International Airport.

The Deputy Prime Minister and high-level officials attended the plenary session, ministerial roundtable discussion, discussion on relevant fields and related meetings held along with the forum.

The opening ceremony of Global Sustainable Transport Forum was held at China National Convention Center (CNCC) in the morning on 25th September and the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. He Lifeng attended and gave an opening remark.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister attended the plenary session held after the opening ceremony of forum together with the Ministers from 18 countries and gave a remark.

The Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister attended Comprehensive Transport Investment Promotion Conference held on 26th September and took part in the discussion and participated in the Ministerial Roundtable on Building a Global Sustainable Transport Partnership in the afternoon together with the ministers from 18 countries and the leaders from 5 international organizations including UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) etc. and took part in the discussion.

The Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister met with the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. He Lifeng in the morning on 25th September and Minister for transport of PRC Mr. Li Xiaopeng in the evening on 26th September and exchanged views on the cooperation and friendly relation.

In the evening on 24th September, the Deputy Prime Minister visited head office of China Railway Group Co. Ltd, observed the Railway Museum and discussed the assessments on the feasibility report for the Construction of new Muse-Mandalay railway and the feasibility study underway for the Construction of Mandalay-Kyaukphyu rail section.

On 25th September, the delegation visited head office of China railway and observed Centralized Traffic Control-CTC. In the morning on 26th September, the Chair and responsible officials from China Communication Construction Co. Ltd and China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd were met and discussed the matters on ongoing projects for the development of transportation sector.
