Ghana bans cereal export due to drought PKG

Ghana’s Ministry for Food and Agriculture has declared a food security crisis in the country’s Northern parts saying that over 450 million dollars worth of investments in Agriculture is at risk of peril.

The prolonged adverse weather conditions in the Northern parts of Ghana is said to have created a dry spell which has affected the livelihood of over Nine hundred thousand farmers. In the short term the country has announced a total ban on three cereals: maize, rice and soya beans in order to contain the situation.
