



German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the site of a deadly car-ramming attack at a crowded Christmas market, where five people were killed and more than 200 injured. Scholz is accompanied by numerous national and regional politicians in the eastern city of Magdeburg. He pledged that Germany will respond "with the full force of the law" to the car-ramming attack.
The suspected perpetrator of a deadly ramming at a Christmas market on Friday is a Saudi refugee from a Shiite family who declared himself an atheist and "anti-Islam". Taleb Jawad al-Abdulmohsen had been living in Germany since 2006 and practised as a psychiatrist in the town of Bernburg, near Magdeburg. He had no known links to jihadists.
