Germany and Canada signed an agreement on boosting cooperation in the field of critical raw materials in Berlin on Tuesday. The agreement has five main objectives, with a focus on technologies related to raw material processing, refining and recycling.
Tom Hodgson, Energy Minister of Canada said "This agreement reflects our shared recognition that secure, diversified, and sustainable supply chains are the foundation of modern economic strength. For Canada, it means that our responsibly produced critical minerals: lithium, rare earths, nickel, copper, and many more, will serve as reliable inputs for Germany's world-leading industries in advanced manufacturing, clean technologies, and powering the energy transition."
The effort included materials ranging from rare earths to lithium and copper. The countries also aim to participate more in international initiatives on raw materials.
