Two people died and several were left trapped after a hotel building partially collapsed Tuesday night in a winemaking town on the Mosel River in western Germany. Rescue workers told a press conference late Wednesday morning that a woman in her age 60 and a man whose body had not been recovered were killed in the collapse.

Police said an operation is ongoing to try to save other people. The operation to recover those who are alive but trapped is proving difficult, involving 250 emergency workers, including drone specialists, as well as rescue dogs.
