The German, Austrian, and Bavarian interior ministers celebrated the 10th anniversary of the opening of the cross-border cooperation centre in Passau, in southeastern Germany. Set up in November 2015 to strengthen security between Germany and Austria, when the region was facing a massive influx of migrants crossing the border between the two countries.

The centre was created in less than two weeks as a temporary solution and then made permanent in December 2015. An international law agreement cemented this cooperation in the spring of 2017.
