General Election: International observers visits polling booths in Nay Pyi Taw

Observers from International and local based foreign embassies visited the polling stations in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on Sunday. With the motto of “From People Trusted Election To Democratic Nation”, the Union Election Commission holds the election.

During the visit, the observers discussed with polling booth officers and voters, observing the voting process. To show the support of International community on Myanmar's efforts for holding free, fair, transparent and dignified elections, 162 observers will participate in the phases of election.

On 28th December, observer delegations from Russian Federation, China, Belarus and Kazakhstan, together with member of Union Election Commission U Myo Hlaing, visited polling stations in Shwe Kyar Pin and Aungzabu Wards of Zabuthiri Township, Ywa Kauk Ward of Pyinmana Township, Zawanadipa and Nawaday Wards of Pobbathiri Township, where they observed the process of voting including vote casting by using MEVM, conducting the election in line with the international standard and practices to be free and fair ones. They also met with voters and polling booth officers, discussing what they want to know.

Likewise, International observer teams from Cambodia, Viet Nam, Nicaragua, India, and Myanmar-Japan Association, as well as the  observers from local based Foreign embassies, also visited the polling stations in Nay Pyi Taw Council area where they met with polling booth officers, candidates and voters and observed the election process.

It is learnt that over 24.26 million individuals are eligible to vote for the 2025 election, where 4,863 candidates from 57 political parties and individual candidates are competing in 692 constituencies. Among them, 6 parties are contesting nationwide while 51 in State/Region level.
