Gaza rescuers search rubble for victims after airstrike

Civil defence teams searched the ruins of a residential building in Khan Yunis after an Israeli airstrike left multiple casualties.

The strike came after Israel resumed military operations in Gaza on March 18, ending a two-month ceasefire that collapsed over unresolved disputes with Hamas, whose 2023 attack triggered the war. The building was occupied at the time of the attack, with residents cooking on stoves due to power and gas shortages.

The explosion caused the structure to collapse, killing and trapping many. Recovery teams continued to retrieve bodies from the wreckage amid growing humanitarian concerns.
