Sydney’s annual iconic Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade went ahead in its 45th edition on Saturday as part of the Sydney WorldPride festivities. The event has been described by the organizers as the biggest Mardi Gras parade ever with 12,500 marchers, 200 floats and 75,000 spectators were expected to take part.

Anthony Albanese was also in attendance as the first sitting Australian Prime Minister to ever take part in the parade. This year’s parade theme was "Gather, Dream, Amplify" which, the organisers' statement said they developed with both LBGTQ+ and indigenous communities.
