Futsal Championship: SAC members attended awarding ceremony

The 2024 Inter-Regions and States Futsal Championship and awarding ceremony took place at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

Present at the occasion were SAC members Daw Dwe Bu, Porel Aung Thein, Dr. Hmu Thang, Dr. Ba Shwe, Khun San Lwin, U Shwe Kyein, U Yan Kyaw, Union Ministers, along with other concerned officials, Myanmar Football Federation officials, and other football enthusiasts. The event began with the final match, where the Yangon Region Team secured a 3-1 victory over the Kachin State Team.

This was followed by awarding ceremony, with medals and cash prizes presented for the best male and female goalkeepers, best male and female players, and the top three teams in the 2024 Regions and States Men’s and Women’s Futsal Tournaments. SAC members Porel Aung Thein and Daw Dwe Bu awarded the championship trophy, medals, and cash prizes to the Yangon Region Men and Women Futsal Teams, respectively.

In the morning of August 19th, the Sagaing Region team won 7-6 against Shan State in the women’s tournament, while the Bago Region team defeated Shan State team 8-3 in the men’s tournament. In the women’s final, Yangon Region team triumphed over Kachin State team 9-1.

The 2024 Inter-State and Region Futsal Tournament aimed to elevate Myanmar’s futsal standards, unify athletes across various states and regions, and invigorate the sport’s popularity while engaging youth. The event, held from August 11th to 19th, featured 525 athletes from 15 male and 14 female teams.
