Further Cooperation : Meeting with the UNHCR delegation

Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing met with Mr. Barnaby Jones, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Myanmar, and his delegation at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ongoing cooperation between the ministry and UNHCR under the MoU, support for UNHCR operations in Myanmar, staff travel arrangements, and coordination with relevant local authorities.

They also exchanged views on the repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State, cooperation between Myanmar and Bangladesh on the process, the use of verified information in public communications, and ways to further strengthen cooperation between the ministry and UNHCR in the future.
