Full Moon Day of Thadingyut: People crowded at pagodas and other recreation places

Being a full moon day of Thadingyut or Abhidhamma Day, pagodas and temples across Myanmar are crowded with the pilgrims, paying homage to Buddha images, taking meditation and performing meritorious deeds.

The pilgrims including members of the Sangha and nuns paid homage to Uppata Sandi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, Shwedagon pagoda in Yangon Region, Maha MyatMuni Buddha Image in Mandalay as well as the pagodas and temples in all regions and states.

Moreover, health care services were provided to the elder persons and the charity foods are donated to the pilgrims according to the traditions of Myanmar people. Due to the influx of visitors from all across the country, a lot of traffic have been seen along the highway lanes and expressways who travel for pilgrim tour and recreation trip.

Likewise, parks, gardens and beaches in the regions and states were also packed with the holiday makers. At night, firework displays were performed at Tabaung Ground near Uppata Sandi Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw and People’s Square in Yangon.

The colourful bulbs are also illuminated along the streets and on the trees. People also enjoyed the displays of colourful lights at Nay Pyi Taw Water Fountain Garden. 50,000 oil lamps offering ceremonies were also organized in the regions and states while the colourful lights are illuminated at the gardens, parks and recreation places.
