Friendship Match:MTTF holds Open Table Tennis Tournament

Celebrating the year of golden dragon 2024, Myanmar Table Tennis Association organized One-Day Men’s Open Invitational Table Tennis Single Tournament, which was opened at Thuwunna Indoor Stadium 1 in Yangon on Thursday Morning.

Member of the Yangon Region Government, Social Affairs Minister U Htay Aung and officials, Chairman of China-Myanmar Friendship Association, Chairman of Myanmar Table Tennis Association and members were also presence at the occasion where encouragement words calling strong sportsmanship spirit were given for the players.

Chairman, Myanmar Table Tennis Association, Kyaw Kyaw, said " 2024 is the year of golden dragon for Chinese symbolizing nobility, good fortune and vitality. I believe it is going to be a year of prosperity bringing best of luck. Therefore, we federation added this China-Myanmar Friendship Table Tennis competition in this year celebration of Chinese New Year."

He added that, through this friendship open matches aiming to turn out new generation players along with promoting Table tennis, the young athletes will also be surely into it having strong mindset and fitness.

Chairman, Myanmar Table Tennis Association, Kyaw Kyaw, said "We federation feel so grateful for having many players here coming from different regions and states including Rakhine, Ayeyarwaddy, Bago, Mon. And I am pretty sure today’s competitions will be supportive for the upcoming SEA Games. Once again, camp trainings are about to start on coming 1st of June. "

It is learnt that, initially, the number of participant players have reached around 400 dividing into different categories. But the short preparation time had to be organized only with 128 players for One-Day Men’s open matches. In the meantime, boosting the motivation of the players, up to 16 of them will be awarded including first, second and joint third prizes comprised of trophies, cash, sports wears, paddles and foodstuff.
