Friendship Bridge Reopens: Movement of people, goods between Myanmar & Thailand

The Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge No.1 which was closed for 3 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic has reopened on the 20thof February this year –those passing the Bridge need temporary tickets or one year passing book issued by the Myanmar and Thai sides.

Han Tun Naing, Assistant Director, Department of Immigration (Tachileik), said " Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge No.1 is an international border entry/exit gate. According to the bilateral agreement, those who want to pass the bridge need temporary tickets or one year passing book. Those who will come from the Thai side have to pay 10 baht. Also, they need to show their original Identification Card and certificate of COVID-19 vaccination with more than 2 shots."

The No.1 Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge which connects the township of Tachileik in Myanmar’s eastern Shan State with Mai Sai in Thailand is an important bridge for the movement of both people and goods between the two countries.
