






Dawei University held its fresher welcome ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year at the Convocation Hall on Tuesday. The event was attended by the Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko and other concerned officials.
The Chief Minister, Chief Justice of the Region High Court, Minister for Security and Border Affairs, Rector and Pro-Rector inaugurated the event by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. They then toured the galleries, showcasing the innovative works by each academic department.
This was followed by captivating music and dance performances by both teachers and students.
In his welcoming speech, the Chief Minister stated that Dawei University plays a key role in developing young generation as empowered individuals with five essential strength and 21st-century skills. He urged all students to value education, cultivate critical thinking and strive for success in their future endeavors. He expressed his hope that they would become skilled professionals, contributing to the development of a peaceful, modern and prosperous nation.
The Chief Minister then donated 10 million kyats to the Rector for Dawei University's development. Following the donation, the Chief Minister and party enjoyed the performances of traditional ethnic dances and songs.
