French voters head to polls in 1st round of municipal election

Voters went to the polls on Sunday in the first round of municipal elections to choose leadership teams across France.

The recent elections area test for political parties' electoral machines before next year's presidential election for the successor to President Emmanuel Macron. It was learned that more than 904,000 French candidates for municipal posts in villages, towns and cities are on the ballots. In places where the outcome remains undecided, the second round of March 22nd voting will determine final results.
