French PM announces €90 million plan to decarbonize maritime sector, protect oceans

French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou announced a series of measures to address the challenges facing France's seas and oceans, including a 90-million-euro plan to decarbonize the maritime sector, as well as a plan to fight and manage algae. 

The Prime Minister added that the Interministerial Committee of the Sea has decided the revenues generated by the European maritime carbon market will be mobilized to contribute to the decarbonization of the maritime sector. It is nearly 90 million euros that can be mobilized in 2026 from the revenues collected in 2025 and will serve as leverage on other available funding sources.
