The second round of France's parliamentary elections are holding today. The French are heading for parliamentary elections with a very uncertain outcome. The reason for all the commotion is the elections for a new House of Representatives in France, the Assemblée Nationale.
The first round was held last Sunday. After the first round, Le Pen’s opponents deployed a strategy to cut off her advance. In most constituencies, three candidates advanced to the second round: Le Pen’s, Macron’s and the left-wing Nouveau Front Populaire (NFP) coalition.
In many constituencies, either Macron or NFP have therefore strategically withdrawn their candidate, so that the other has a better chance of winning. Macron’s party has done this in about 80 districts, the NFP in 130.
