French military spokesperson on Sudan evacuations

A French military spokesperson on Wednesday described the evacuations of foreign nationals from Sudan. Col. Pierre Gaudilliere, told that airstrikes, street battles and artillery shelling were happening as the operation was being carried out in the capital Khartoum.

By air, France has evacuated at least 538 people, including 209 French nationals.About 400 other people have been evacuated by sea by a French frigate that left Port Sudan on Tuesday heading to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Col. Gaudilliere said.
