Veterinarians from the Armed Forces Health Service have been deployed to south-western France to vaccinate cattle herds against lumpy skin disease (LSD).

The government has also pledged to accelerate the national vaccination programme in an effort to contain the outbreak and calm protests by farmers angered over the handling of the disease. Movement restrictions were imposed in affected areas to limit its spread.
