Freelance photography contest: Natural beauty of elephants and elephant camps

The freelance photography contest related to the natural beauty of elephants and elephant camps was held at the Ngalaik Elephant Conservation Camp in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on Sunday with the aim for the development of elephant conservation based tourism of Myanma Timber Enterprise. 

In-charge, Lin Zaw Khine, Timber Extraction, Nay Pyi Taw said "To be able to enjoy more the nature of elephants, the natural scenic beauty, to develop more ECBT elephant camps, the contest is held. For rules and regulations, the competitive photos must be shot during the competition period. The contestants can send three colour photos with 10-inch and 12-inch sizes each and their favourite photos for the contest."

The visitors visiting elephant camp can closely contact with elephants and feed them. They can also take a rest by riding on the elephants while enjoying natural scenic beauty.

In-charge, Nyi Nyi Aung, Ngalaik Elephant Camp said "The visitors can learn the knowledge about elephants and also study elephant museum. There are 20 elephants at the camp. We can take about 30 or 45 minute drives from Nay Pyi Taw to reach there. As it is a natural elephant camp in the jungle, you can enjoy a unique scene compared to other elephant camps."

The contestants also said that they got much knowledge on conservation of natural environment and elephants from the contest. 

Aung Lin Htike, Contestant said "I have found about the contest in the newspaper. I’m interested in the contest and participate in the contest. We get the knowledge to conserve natural environment. By participating in the contest, we will take a record in our life on photography contest. "

Myo Min Htike, Contestant said "I have never experienced on such kind of contest. This is my first experience. I also enjoy the beauty of natural environment. I think…I will get many photos for the contest. By holding such kind of event, there will be a lot of progress on elephant conservation camp."

For the contest, 1 million kyats will be awarded for the first prize, 700,000 kyats for the 2nd prize, 500,000 kyats for the third prize, 300,000 kyats for the 4th prize, 200,000 kyats for 5th prize and other consolation prizes will be awarded. The prizes will be presented on 5th April 2023 in commemoration of 75th Anniversary of Myanma Timber Enterprise.
