Free Eye Surgery Treatment: over 10,000 patients provided free eye treatment

The 4th time free eye surgery services are being provided by ophthalmologists at Sitagu Jotika Cakkhudana Eye Hospital in Aunglan Township in Magway Region from 23rd to 27th March.

There are over 100 medical personnel including ophthalmologists providing free eye surgery services and Sitagu Sayadaw also visited the hospital and comforted the patients. 

Sitagu Ashin Jotika, Sitagu Jotika Cakkhudana Hospital said "This is the 4th time providing free eye surgery services at Sitagu Jotika Cakkhudana Hospital and over 10,000 patients have been provided free eye treatment services in the first, second and third time. There is no restriction on providing services so everyone is welcomed to receive free eye treatment services here. We also take care of the patients who come to hospital alone and the patients come from afar are fulfilled their needs."

The patients who come to receive the treatments are not only from Aunglan township but also from the villages in Thayet District.  

Magway Region Government also donated 5 million kyats for free eye surgery treatments.

Patient, Aunglan Township, Myint Oo said"I came here to receive treatment for my refractive errors. Proving free eye treatment services is very grateful for us who can’t afford much to receive treatments from the clinics and hospitals. "

Sitagu Jotika Cakkhudana Hospital was constructed in Aunglan in 2016-2017. The 1st time providing free eye surgery treatments was conducted in 2017, 2nd time in 2018 and 3rd time in 2019. The hospital was also used as a Covid Health Center during the Covid-19 pandemic.
