France outlines strategy to boost AI development

At the Adopt AI conference in Paris, Finance Minister Roland Lescure outlined key factors for France’s success in artificial intelligence. He emphasized the need for specialist talent, robust data-centre infrastructure, and decarbonized electricity from renewable and nuclear sources.

Lescure also called for increased research investment and stronger public-sector adoption of AI to keep pace internationally. The government is working with energy operator RTE to ensure necessary infrastructure is in place. Public administration is expected to demonstrate practical AI use cases for citizens.
