France has the right to ban social media access for children under 15, following a bill adopted by its lower house of parliament, a European Commission spokesperson said.

The spokesperson clarified that while France can set a digital age for its citizens, enforcement of the rules would fall under the European Union. The Digital Services Act (DSA) and the European Commission remain the only authorities able to impose additional obligations on very large online platforms.
