France to deploy 90,000 officers for New Year with orders for 'extreme measures'

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed that the suspect in the Line 3 assaults is a French national by descent, after a passport was found at his home. Authorities verified his citizenship, which he acquired through his father.

Nunez also outlined the New Year security plan, deploying 90,000 police and gendarmes nationwide, including 10,000 in Paris and its suburbs. The plan emphasizes strict measures against violence and vandalism, particularly in public spaces such as the Champs-Elysees, to ensure the safety of celebrations.
