





Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Spouse of the Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar sent video speech to the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum which was held under the theme of “Women for strengthening trust and global cooperation” from 18 to 20 September in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation.
The Opening Ceremony and Plenary Session was launched with the speech of Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin and followed by the speeches of Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, and the Governor of Saint Petersburg.
In addition, Russian Prime Minister Mr. Mikhail Mishutin sent his speech to the Forum. During the Plenary Session, the women leaders of international parliaments and government institutions around the world made speeches.
In her discussion, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla highlighted that non-governmental organizations in Myanmar such as Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation, Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association, and Myanmar Women and Children Development Foundation have been supporting and promoting health, education and economic development for women, expectant mothers, young women, children, and the elderly and ensuring the safety of women’s lives.
She added that half of the population of Myanmar are women, and thus, along with women from all over the world, Myanmar women play a pivotal role in strengthening trust and global cooperation. Highlighting the challenges the world is facing today, such as climate change, poverty, requirement for healthcare and educational services, technological development, violations of human rights, especially women rights, trade conflicts and military conflicts, she pointed out that women mostly bear the burden of conflicts, and stressed that it is essential to include the role of women participation in multi-sector cooperation for successful implementation of mutual understanding and trust, peace, security and development.
She expressed her confidence that the Fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum will contribute not only to the promotion of the interests of all the women across the world but also to the enhancement of their collective strength for bolstering trust and global cooperation.
Then, the Forum continued with the discussions under the themes of Role of Women in “a New Agenda for Peace and Trust”, “Economic Reality: Technologies and Innovations”, “Healthy Society and Social Wellbeing”, “Clean Planet and Food Security”, “Preservation of Traditions and Cultural Diversity” and “BRICS Women’s Forum”.
President of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation Dr. Thet Thet Zin also delivered a video speech under the theme of “Women for the Preservation of Traditions and Cultural Diversity” at the Forum.
The Forum was attended by 1,500 attendees from 126 countries including vice presidents, chairs and vice chairs of the parliaments, deputy prime minister, minister, deputy minister, and women leaders and experts from space, environment, women’s development and nuclear sectors.
