








The 2024 Mid-Year Gems Emporium continued its fourth day at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, with gems and jewelry shops thriving and attracting a steady stream of visitors and buyers. Local and foreign gems and jewelry merchants toured the displays of pearls, jade and gem lots inside the hall, as well as raw jade lots outside.
In the morning, the relevant officials opened the tender boxes and examined the price proposals for gems lots from 1 to 160 and announced 62 lots sold.The base price of those gems lots sold today is set in US dollars. Foreign buyers can pay in US dollars, euros, yuan, Thai baht or other currencies accepted by the Central Bank of Myanmar, while local buyers may pay in foreign currencies or kyats.
In the evening, the relevant officials opened the tender boxes and examined the price proposals for lot 1 to 850 of Jade lots from Group A and Group B and the jade lots sold will be announced on fifth day of the emporium.
During the emporium, Group A and Group B of jade lots are priced in USD for both local and foreign merchants to purchase. Foreign merchants can pay in USD, Euros, Chinese Yuan, Thai Baht, or other Central Bank-approved currencies. Local merchants can pay in foreign currency for Group A, or in either foreign currency or Kyats for Group B. Group C jade lots are exclusively available to local merchants to promote MSMEs.
These lots are priced in Kyats and must be paid for in Kyats. The 2024 Mid-Year Myanmar Gems Emporium is being run from November 18 to 27 at the Mani Yadana Jade Hall. During the emporium, 208 pearl lots from 280, 62 gems lots form 160 were sold for the local and international gems merchants and 4800 jade lots, categorized into three groups: A, B, and C, will be sold via the open tender system to both local and international merchants from 22nd to 27th of November.
