Four people were killed in front of one of the most renowned hotels of the resort city of Cancun, on Mexico's Caribbean coast, state authorities said Monday. The discovery of the bodies was confirmed by the Attorney General's Office of the state of Quintana Roo. Authorities did not provide details about the identity of the victims.
The Quintana Roo Prosecutor's Office said in a statement that two people were arrested for the case. The deaths occurred at the beginning of Holy Week, one of the busiest tourist seasons for the resort. Last month the U.S. State Department issued a travel alert for Americans planning to spend spring break in the Mexican Caribbean including Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
