







Forum on “Myanmar Beyond 2025: Challenges and Opportunities in the Multipolar World” took place at MICC I in Nay Pyi Taw on 21st March.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Organized by Myanmar Narrative Think Tank under the lead of the Ministry of Information, the forum saw the participation of experts in geoeconomics and geopolitics from China, Russia, India, Japan, Thai, Italy and Nepal as well as local experts and international observers.
The ceremony commenced with the performance by the artists from Fine Art Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, followed by screening of a video clip on Myanmar Geopolitical and Geoeconomic Landscape Beyond 2025.
The Prime Minister later delivered an opening speech, highlighting the significant opportunity of the forum in fostering the country’s better future along with the global connectivity.
Emphasizing the changing global landscapes, the Prime Minister stressed the transformation from globalization to the regionalization, with the role of regional countries become more crucial. He added that the forum could help support for Myanmar’s efforts in building a modern and developed nation with the guidance and strategies provided by the international experts.
The Prime Minister also expressed thanks to the participants for their contribution in providing insightful knowledge in shaping the better future of Myanmar.
The Prime Minister later made discussion on the challenges and opportunities to be faced by Myanmar in the Multipolar World. He stressed the strategic geographic location of Myanmar, situating between the two most populous countries China and India, and lying in the Pivot Area of South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Highlighting the practice of free and active non-aligned foreign policy, the Prime Minister stressed that the country has many promising opportunities and the challenges as well. He called for efforts of all Myanmar citizens to promote the country’s status for better future by overcoming the challenges.
During the forum, participants will discuss three main topics – “Myanmar and Asia’s Role in Changing Multipolar World”, “Challenges and Opportunities of Myanmar in the Multipolar World Beyond 2025” and “Geopolitical Challenges and Promising Opportunities of Myanmar in the Multipolar World Beyond 2025”.
The forum intends to raise international awareness about the current situation of the country together with political changes, fostering collaboration towards Myanmar with understanding and empathy, counter the baseless accusations to promote the country’s image, understand the challenges and opportunities emerging in the changing global landscape in 2025, specifically in a multipolar world, and identify ways to prepare for them in advance.
