Former Governor Hutchinson launches GOP 2024 bid

Asa Hutchinson, who recently completed two terms as Arkansas state governor, said he will seek the Republican presidential nomination, positioning himself as an alternative to Donald Trump just days after the former president was indicted by a grand jury in New York.

Asa Hutchinson, Former Arkansas Governor said “I have made a decision and my decision is I'm going to run for president of the United States. While the formal announcement will be later in April (in) Bentonville. I wanted to make clear to you that I am going to be running.” 

Hutchinson said Trump should drop out of the race, arguing “the office is more important than any individual person.” He is the first Republican to enter the race since Trump became the only former U.S. president to ever face criminal charges.
