A former French boxing champion who was filmed landing punches on police during "yellow vest" protests in Paris, has turned himself into police. Christophe Dettinger was twice national light-heavyweight boxing champion. He was taking part in the eighth Saturday of anti-government protests that have undermined President Emmanuel Macron's authority.

he said he was defending himself. On Facebook he wrote: "I was gassed with my friend, my wife, and at some point I was taken over by anger, so yes I acted badly. I acted badly, but I defended myself."In another video Dettinger can be seen kicking a policeman on the ground.
