Forest Restoration Efforts: MoNREC Union Minister addressed coordination meeting

The 2022-2023 fiscal year second half-year coordination meeting of forest department on forest restoration project was held at the forest department, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on September 22 and the Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi gave an opening speech.

In his speech, the union minister said it’s carrying out for the greening and cleaning roadside of Heho-Bawsai road in Kalaw Township of Shan State (South), Pyin Oo Lwin Township to be a Cherry city and Kalaw Township to be a Pine City and the tree planting and forest conservation in the Magway Region and the area at the west bank of Ayeyarwady River.

Establishing forest plantations, mangrove plantation and village firewood plantation, conservation of forest reserves and protected forests, natural mangrove forests and natural protected areas, preservation of water-shed area, protection of bio-diversity and the conservation of ecosystem are being carried out as anational duty to hand down the forest resources to the next generations.

For more forest coverage of the country and mitigation of climate change, the forest restoration project is being implemented and the preparations are needed to have saplings over two feet height required for the forest plantations to be established in 2023 monsoon season and to distribute to the public etc.

Then, the regions and states In-Charges clarified the preparations for the works to be implemented in 2023 monsoon season, plans to be done and the director general of forest department supplemented necessaries and the union minister coordinated requirements.
