Foreigners join Samurai Training in Japan

Foreigners practicing and teaching Japanese swordsmanship have taken part in a training camp in the historical city of Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture. Wearing samurai costumes, the participants began the training session by cleaning the floor with wet rags.

They then received a lesson from Shimaguchi on the etiquette and manners of samurai, as well as the basics of swordsmanship using bamboo swords. The training began on Saturday at a hot spring inn in the city, with more than 30 people from Italy, Britain and other countries taking part.
