Football For Schools Program: Footballs handed over to the Ministry of Education

With the collaboration of FIFA and Myanmar Football Federation, footballs were handed over to the Ministry of Education under Football For Schools Program through a ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Chairman of the FIFA Football Social Responsibility Committee and Chairman of Myanmar Football Federation U Zaw Zaw and many other concerned officials attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was inaugurated with the screening of a video clip featuring Grassroots Football Festival Activities carried out by Myanmar Football Federation under the supervision of FIFA.

In her opening speech, the Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein stated that the ceremony is a very first step to implement Football For Schools Program extensively. As sports sector plays a crucial role to evolve education and health sectors which are the foundation of the sustainable development process of the nation, further Football For Schools activities will be conducted with the concerted efforts of the ministries, Myanmar Football Federation and relevant organizations.

Next, Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung delivered a speech, encouraging the football enthusiast students to continue learning about football techniques and skills systematically to become professional players who can bring prestige to the nation.

Then, Chairman of the FIFA Football Social Responsibility Committee and Myanmar Football Federation U Zaw Zaw made clarifications on Football For Schools activities and their benefits and assured to provide requisite assistance in nurturing new generation football players, conducting trainings and organizing competitions. Afterwards, 42,760 Adidas brand footballs were handed over to the Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein. After the ceremony, the Union Ministers and attendees enjoyed mini football game, it’s learnt.
