Food Sufficiency: SAC Chairman visit Breeding Zone in Twantay

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited Twantay Livestock Breeding Zone in Yangon Region on Saturday.

Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials provided update report on livestock breeding, establishment of breeding farms, production of animal products and animal feeds, fish, prawn and crab breeding, plans for development of breeding zone and availability of water.

In response to the reports, the Prime Minister discussed the need to establish the Green Zone Area, growing grass, shady and windbreaker trees along the road, and to generate solar power energy for power supply. He emphasized to implement commercial breeding tasks, aiming to produce value-added products through the establishment of Industry based on agriculture and livestock.

He pointed out the fact that achieving success in agriculture and livestock could help improve the socio-economic development of the nation, and urged officials to make strenuous efforts for yielding the best outcomes practically.

The Prime Minister and party later took a tour of the breeding zone and oversaw the breeding of goat, duck, quail, cow and pits. He also met with the officials at the breeding zone and instructed for systematic implementation of the tasks for long term sustainability.

Established in June 2023, Twantay Livestock Breeding Zone aims to provide fresh and nutritious foods for welfare of Yangon residents and food sufficiency. The zone is built on a land plot of over 581 acres area, and livestock breeding tasks are carrying out by dividing three zones.
