Food service to provide in train: Plans for food service class on YGN-MDY trains

Myanmar Railway will call open tender with competitive auction system to add food service provider on the Yangon-Mandalay railway lines no 3 up train and 4 down train, no 5 up train and no 6 down train to be convenience for the passengers, it’s learnt. The train with food service class will be targeted to launch starting from 1st November. So, Myanmar Railway is calling tender at Business Department in Nay Pyi Taw railway station on September.

Nyo Oo, General Manager, Myanmar Railway said "The two Yangon-Mandalay train service of no 3 up and 4 down, no 5 up and no 6 down trains are running currently and train no 3 up and no 4 down is running daily. Train no 3 up and 4 down runs Friday to Sunday. The food service class will be added upon the number of passengers. The open tender will be invited in Nay Pyi Taw. We will choose the provider who really wants to provide food services with wearing uniforms on the train for the passengers."

Currently as a local railway lines, there are 8 trains on Yangon-Mandalay road, 4 trains on Yangon-Pyi road, 2 trains each on Yangon-Mawlamying Pyin Oo Lwin-Gokteik, Thar Si-Shwe Naung, Taung Gyi-Hseik Khaung in Shan State (North), Pyinmanar-Taung Twin Gyi and Pathein-KyanKhin roads, 4 trains on Sittwe-Pyi Taw Thar-Ye Chan Sin road. There are 30 long trip railway trains and 24 Yangon Circular Railway trains with 54 passenger trains, it’s learnt.
