Flying Back Home: MAI Relief Flight Brought Back 165 Myanmar Citizens From Malaysia

A relief flight of Myanmar Airways International (MAI) landed at the Yangon International Airport in the afternoon of 16th July, bringing back a total of 165 Myanmar citizens who were stranded in Malaysia.

The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Ministry of Health and Sports and local officials helped the returnees for health inspections and arranged for 21-day quarantine.

To bring back the Myanmar citizens who are stranded in foreign countries in relief flight and charter flight in accordance with the instructions from National-Level Central Committee for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the relevant ministries and Myanmar embassies from respective countries. A total of 973 Myanmar citizens from Malaysia have been brought back by the seven relief flights to date.
