Florida's corals bleach as seawaters reach record temperatures

Record seawater temperatures in recent days have resulted in widespread coral bleaching in Florida's coral reef, the third largest in the world.

Brad Roberts, local tourist and fisherman said "The stuff that’s going on with the coral, that’s very sad to see. A lot of these people make their living off of the reefs and tourism is a big part. So I don’t think people will want to come down here and see a bunch of dead coral. So, I think it’s a big problem that hopefully some environmentalists and whatnot can help fix." 

July is on track to be the hottest month in recorded history, scientists confirmed Thursday, as UN chief Antonio Guterres warned Earth has moved into an "era of global boiling". Searing heat intensified by global warming has affected tens of millions of people in parts of Europe, Asia and North America this month, combining with fierce wildfires that have scorched across Canada and parts of southern Europe.
