Floods in Yangon Region: Relief items distribtued to the affected residents

Due to the surge of Hlaing River and Bawlae River in Yangon Region, the villages in Taikkyi and Kungyankone Townships faced inundation.

On Wednesday,  Chief Minister U Soe Thein, together with officials, visited the ares affected by flood to provide relief measures. Some 3,000 residents from 640 households from three village-tract in Thaikkyi Township have been affected by the floods.

With the supervision of the Regional Government, relief items were distributed to the victims by local administrative bodies and volunteers. Likewise, over 9,000 people from 29 villages in Kungyankone Township were evacuated to the Sasana Hitakayi Monastery. Relief items were provided for the affected people by the officials.
