








Some townships in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and across regions and states have been inundated due to the surge of rivers and creeks, triggered by the impact of Typhoon Yagi and the storm in the Bay of Bengal.
Local Tatmadawmen, departmental personnel and social organizations are carrying out the relief measures, evacuating the affected victims to the safer places, repairing the damaged roads and bridges, clearing the debris, providing health care services and foodstuff.
On Friday, Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspected the relief measures and repair works.
The Senior General oversaw the repairing of Sinthay Creek Bridge, connecting Zeyathiri and Pobathiri Township, and instructed for speedy restoration of transportation, and systematic repair works for long term durability with disaster resistant plan. He also instructed for convenient arrangement of affected victims at the relief camps.
The Senior General and party also viewed the damaged plantations along Yangon-Mandalay old road, inundation of road sections to Hlay Khwin Hill, water inflow condition at Sinthay Creek and flood-hit villages, and comforted the victims.
They also inspected the clearing of debris at Sinthay Creek crossing Aye Myint Thaya Bridge, and instructed officials for proper drainage system and effective use of machineries. He also stressed the need to carry out the relief measures effectively and make arrangements for international assistance.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued warning for heavy rain, strong wind, flash flood and landslide till September 15th. Public are advised to be cautious for disasters.
